THANKSGIVING AND THE LESSONS OF POLITICAL ECONOMY

As we move on from the Thanksgiving holiday toward the end-of-the-year holidays, I want to share just one more lesson from Thanksgiving. The following article was forwarded to me by my good friend, Dr. Mark Skousen, who is the founder and producer of FreedomFest and who is known as “America’s Economist”.

This is the link to a 2004 article written by Alex Tabarrok of George Mason University entitled, A Thanksgiving Lesson. It tells the story of how the first Pilgrims suffered starvation in the first year after landing at Plymouth Rock due to their establishment of a communist society; and how they turned their situation around by ending corn collectivism.
