Trethera Secures $2.3M NIH Grant for Prostate Cancer – Join Investor Webinar

Trethera has been awarded a $2.3 million NIH Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant to advance its lead drug candidate, TRE-515, in prostate cancer.

This funding will support preclinical studies evaluating TRE-515 in combination with radiation therapy for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) – a disease that claims 70% of patients within five years of diagnosis.

Building on the recent FDA Fast Track designation for TRE-515 in mCRPC, this award further validates the strong scientific rationale and promising early clinical observations behind Trethera’s first-in-class dCK inhibitor. By blocking cancer cells’ ability to repair DNA damage, TRE-515 has the potential to work synergistically with radiation therapy and extend survival for patients who currently face very limited treatment options.

About TRE-515
TRE-515 is a novel deoxycytidine kinase (dCK) inhibitor that has already demonstrated a strong safety profile and early signs of clinical benefit in an ongoing human oncology trial. With its differentiated mechanism of action, TRE-515 has the potential to reshape treatment for cancer and other serious diseases—addressing an urgent need where patients have limited options today.
